Habbisha dalma

Habbisha Dalma:  In Odiya houses month of Kartika considered as very sacred month.Every Odiya woman prepared Habbisha dalma(raw moondal dalma) and raw rice on four consecutive mondays and offer  before Lord Shiva and vrindavati(Tulsi plants).

 

Ingredients: 1.Raw moong dal(kancha mooga dali) 1 cup
                    2.1 raw banana (kancha kadali)
                    3.2 big arvi(saaru)
                   4.1 phada oou(seasonal vegetable only available at odissha)
                   5. salt to taste
                   6.2-3 dry chillies
                   7.1 tsp jeera(cumin seeds)
                   8.Curry leaves(bhusunga patra)
                   9. pinch of Hing
                  10. jeeralanka gunda( fried, dried cumin and dry chilly powder)
                  11. grated coconut 
                  12.1 tsp. Ghee for tadka

Process : First cut all vegetable into cube size except oou.Oou 'll be cut into thin long size.Add all vegetables and raw moong dal and salt into pressure cooker.Wait for 1-2 whistle. In a pan add  ghee,cumin seeds and dry chilly curry leaves. when it start splutter add pinch of hing and add  boiled moongdal into pan and remain on gas for another 2 minutes.swtitch off gas. Now add grated coconut and dried chilly and cumin seeds powedr into the dal. Serve hot with raw rice.
