Banana stem curry( manja rai)
Today I update Banana stem curry .Banana stem is a rich source of fibre and helps in weight loss.Banana stem is rich in potassium and vitamin B6 just like the fruit. Vitamin B6 helps in production of haemoglobin and insulin.Banana stem is said to be a diuretic and helps detoxify the body. It is used prevent and treat kidney stones.
Ingredients
2-3 cloves garlic
1 red chilly
2 tsp mustard(sorisha)
1 tomato
1 onion,
7-8 curry leaves
1 tsp futana( mixture of mustard seeds, cumin seed,
fenugreek seeds,aniseeds and kalonji)
1-2 dry chilly
1 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
1 tbsp mustard oil / refine oil
Process
Cutting of banana stem is very important.First remove its cover.Only use the middle stem. Take a bowl with salt water.First make thin slices of stem, removing its thread.then chopped into small cube size. Grind thin paste of mustard, dry chilly and garlic.In a pan add oil.Add dry chilly, futana and curry leaves.when it start to splutter add chopped onion. Add chopped stem.Mix well. Then add the mustard paste, chopped tomato,turmeric powder. mix evenly everything. Now cover with a lid for 7-8 min. But time to time check otherwise it stick to pan.after 8 min.un cover the lid and mix well. Manja rai or banana stem curry now ready for serving.
